Maximilian Ruth (born March 5, 1994 in Witten / North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German athlete who specializes in sprints and relay races.

career path

In 2013 Maximilian Ruth graduated from the Albert-Martmöller-Gymnasium in Witten . He is studying economics at the Ruhr University in Bochum .

Athletic career

At first Ruth played soccer at SV Bommern 05 and later at FSV Witten . At the age of 15 he made the decision to become a sprinter and hung up his football boots.

In 2010, at the age of 16, Ruth took 5th place over 200 meters at the German U18 championships . A year later he came over this distance at the European Youth Olympic Festival (European Youth Olympic Festival - EYOF) to 7th place and was German U18 champion over 100 and 200 meters.

In 2012 Ruth won the title at the German indoor youth championships with the 4 x 200 meter relay and took 4th place over 200 meters. He qualified for participation in the U20 World Championships in Barcelona in the 4 x 100 meter relay with which he also became German U23 runner-up .

In 2013 he won the runner-up title at the German indoor youth championships over 200 meters and with the 4 x 100 meter relay at the U20 European championships in Rieti and at the German youth championships .

In 2014 Ruth became German U23 champion with the 4 x 100 meter relay and took 4th place at the German indoor championships with the 4 x 200 meter relay and at the German U23 championships at the 100- Meter run .

In 2015 he won three more titles. Ruth won his first championship title among the active players at the German indoor championships with the 4 x 200 meter relay. Then he became German Junior Champion (U23) with the 4 x 100 meter relay and won his second championship title in the adult class with her at the German championships .

In 2016 Ruth won the third championship title among the active players with the 4 x 100 meter relay at the German championships . With her he also won the title at the German Junior Championships (U23) and came in 3rd place over the 100 meter distance.

In 2017 Ruth was German indoor champion in Leipzig with the relay over 4 x 200 meters in a personal best of 1: 24.83 minutes and took 7th place at the German championships in the 100 meter run in Erfurt . Together with Robin ErewaAlexander Kosenkow  and Maurice Huke , he became German champion in the 4 x 100 meter relay for the third time in a row in Erfurt.

Maximilian Ruth has been working for TV Wattenscheid 01 since 2012 , previously he was at DJK Blau-Weiß Annen .
