Michael-Hakim Jordan (born June 24, 1977 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is a former American basketball player who played professionally for various clubs in Europe after completing his studies . The German championship title with RheinEnergie Cologne 2006 can be seen as his greatest success .
Career
Jordan studied in his hometown at the University of Pennsylvania and played for the college team Quakers basketball in the Ivy League of the NCAA Division I. The Quakers are historically the most successful basketball team in the Ivy League and are among the ten college teams with the most wins in the NCAA without ever having won the championship. Jordan has been the best submission per game in his seasons for the Quakers each season and the best points collector per game in his last three years , so he has been named the Quakers MVP for all of his seasons . In these two categories he is also one of the five best players of all time for the Quakers.
After completing his studies, Jordan was initially active in the French LNB at Besançon Basket Comté Doubs before playing in his home country in the International Basketball League , a short-lived spin-off from the CBA , which has now also been dissolved . He then returned to Europe and played in the Spanish second division LEB in Murcia . After an engagement in Venezuela , he was committed by the German second division club Quakenbrücker TSV and rose to the basketball Bundesliga in 2003 with the club renamed Artland Dragons without defeat . After one narrowly missed entry into the play-offs for the German championship in the first division season, the first-time entry into the play-offs succeeded in the 2004/05 season . After his third season with the Dragons, Jordan left the club and was briefly active in Ventspils , Latvia , before returning to the BBL in Cologne in December 2005 . With the Cologne team won the championship in 2006 and he was able to recommend himself for the traditional club from Cantù in Lombardy playing in the Italian Serie A.
In the 2007/08 season, Jordan played for a year in Charleroi, Belgium . After brief engagements in the Greek A1 Ethniki and the Israeli Ligat ha'Al , he returned to the BBL again and in November 2008 his former Quakenbrücker coach Chris Fleming joined Brose Baskets in Bamberg in Franconia as a replacement for the injured John Goldsberry fetched. After signing Dan Dickau, Jordan moved on to the Cologne 99ers, with whom he won the championship in 2006. After the Cologne club went bankrupt during the summer break , Jordan was committed by the BBL promoted team from Hagen in December 2009 and achieved relegation with the team. For the new season he was signed by the former Hagen co-promoted MBC from Weißenfels and will play in the 2010/11 season in a team with his former Cologne teammate Guido Grünheid , with whom he won the championship in 2006. In winter he moved to the league competitor from Gießen , where he was not signed up after the end of the season.
After a year without engagement as a player, Jordan decided to end his playing career and was introduced as the new assistant coach of the Colgate University basketball team in the summer of 2012 . There he should pass on his experience as a professional to young players.
