Michael Joseph "Mike" Kopetski (born October 27, 1949 in Pendleton , Oregon ) is an American politician . Between 1991 and 1995 he represented the fifth constituency of the state of Oregon in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Michael Kopetski attended the public schools in his home country and then until 1971 the American University . He then studied law at the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College until 1978 . He became a member of the Democratic Party . From 1973 to 1974 he was a member of a committee of the US Senate , which examined the campaign activities of the presidential elections.

In 1976, Kopetski was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention , where Jimmy Carter was nominated as the party's presidential candidate. From 1977 to 1979 and again in 1981 he was employed by the Oregon Parliament Administration as a Committee Administrator . Between 1981 and 1984 he was a labor and education advisor, and from 1985 to 1989 he was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives.

In 1982 and 1988 he ran unsuccessfully for the US House of Representatives. In 1990 Kopetski was elected to Congress . There he replaced Denny Smith on January 3, 1991 , whom he had beaten in the elections. After a re-election in 1992, he was able to exercise his mandate until January 3, 1995. In Congress he was a member of the Committee on Ways and Means . In 1994 he decided not to run again.

After his political activities in Washington , Kopetski became an international trade advisor. Today he is on the board of directors of the software company On2 Technologies .
