Franklin F. Korell

Franklin Frederick Korell (born July 23, 1889 in Portland , Oregon , †  June 7, 1965 in Alexandria , Virginia ) was an American politician . Between 1927 and 1931 he represented the third constituency of the state of Oregon in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Franklin Korell attended the public schools of his home country and then the Bishop Scott Academy in Portland. After studying law, which he began at the University of Oregon and graduated from Harvard University Law School in 1912 , he began practicing law in Portland. During the First World War he was from 1917 to 1919 first lieutenant in the infantry. Then he worked again as a lawyer.

Politically, Korell became a member of the Republican Party . Between 1923 and 1925 he was an MP in the Oregon House of Representatives . After the death of Congressman Maurice E. Crumpacker , he was elected his successor in the US House of Representatives in the by-election. Korell took up his new mandate in Washington on October 18, 1927. After he had won the regular elections of 1928 in his constituency, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1931 . In 1930 he lost to the Democrat Charles Martin .

Between 1931 and 1943 he worked for the US Treasury Secretary's staff, and then until 1959 for the tax authorities. He then retired to Alexandria, Virginia, where he had since moved. Franklin Korell died in 1965 and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. He was married to Caroline Stoddard since 1932.
