Wendell Wyatt

Wendell Wyatt (born June 15, 1917 in Eugene , Oregon , † January 28, 2009 in Portland , Oregon) was an American politician .

Wyatt studied at the University of Oregon at Eugene and received his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1941 . During World War II , he served as a pilot in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 to 1946 . After the war, Wyatt moved to Astoria and worked as a lawyer in the office of former Governor Albin Walter Norblad . From 1955 to 1957, Wyatt was chairman of the Oregon State Republican Central Committee .

In 1964 he was elected to Congress in a special election in order to fill the vacant seat of the late Walter Norblad , son of Albin Walter Norblad, in the House of Representatives . Wyatt represented his state there from November 3, 1964 to January 3, 1975. In the 1974 elections, he refused to run again. In the following years he remained active in the Republican Party and became a partner in the law firm Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt .
