Micheln is a district of the municipality of Osternienburger Land in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt .

history

On September 30, 1928, the Klietzen manor was merged with the Micheln rural community and thus became part of the community. On July 1, 1950, the community Trebbichau was incorporated into Micheln. The district of Trebbichau was first mentioned in 1484.

Micheln was severely damaged on June 23, 2004 by a tornado of magnitude F3 with wind speeds of up to about 300 km / h over a width of 200 m. 70% of the 250 buildings in town suffered massive damage, some of them massive. There was also severe damage in Trebbichau. Although the tornado was one of the strongest tornadoes in the last 30 years, no people died.

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities Micheln, Chörau , Diebzig , Dornbock , Drosa , Elsnigk , Großpaschleben , Kleinpaschleben , Libbesdorf , Zabitz , Osternienburg , Reppichau , Trinum and Wulfen merged to form a unified community of Osternienburger Land. At the same time, the administrative community Osternienburg , to which these communities belonged, was dissolved.
