Drosa is a district of the municipality Osternienburger Land in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt . The landmark of the place is the " Teufelskeller ", a prehistoric large stone grave ( passage grave ).

history

In 1844 there were 418 people in Drosa.

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Drosa, Chörau , Diebzig , Dornbock , Zabitz , Elsnigk , Großpaschleben , Kleinpaschleben , Libbesdorf , Micheln , Osternienburg , Reppichau , Trinum and Wulfen merged to form a unified community of Osternienburger Land. At the same time, the administrative community Osternienburg , to which these communities belonged, was dissolved.

The area around Drosa is rich in prehistoric soil monuments, which have either already been examined or recognized on aerial photographs. This includes:

  • Bronze Age burial grounds
  • partly still undated circular moats
  • a settlement and a burial ground from the Iron Age

The megalithic complex Großsteingrab Drosa called "Teufelskeller" is also located in the district . During the expansion of the gravel mining area south of the village in 2001, a small but double stone box (east chamber 37 × 30 cm: west chamber 75 × 55 cm) was found in a circular trench about 6 m in diameter at the southern end of the Küsterberg .

Personalities

Herbert Niemann (born December 12, 1935 in Bernburg , † February 19, 1991 in Berlin ), first European judo champion from GDR, grew up in Drosa. In 1964 he was the first East German Olympic starter in the all-German judo Olympic team.

traffic

The Magdeburg – Halle railway line runs on the edge of the district. The next train station is Wulfen (Anhalt) , only about one kilometer east of the center of Drosa.
