Miguel Olaortúa Laspra OSA (born November 22, 1962 in Bilbao , Spain , † November 1, 2019 in Iquitos , Peru ) was a Spanish Roman Catholic religious and Vicar Apostolic of Iquitos .

Life

Miguel Olaortúa Laspra joined in 1981 the Augustinian order in, put on 2 October 1982, the first profession from and received on 4 October 1987 in the Cathedral of Bilbao , the ordination . He studied philosophy and theology at the Augustinian Seminary of Valladolid and at the Universidad de Deusto in Bilbao, and education at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome . He was parish vicar of the parish of Santa Rita in the Archdiocese of Saragossa and director of the Colegio de San Agustín in Saragossa as well as prior of the Augustinians in Saragossa and member of the Provincial Council of his order.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on February 2, 2011 Vicar Apostolic of Iquitos and Titular Bishop of Abbir Maius . The Archbishop of Valladolid , Ricardo Blázquez Pérez , donated him episcopal ordination on April 16 of the same year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Renzo Fratini , Apostolic Nuncio in Spain and Andorra , Julián García Centeno OSA, Apostolic Vicar Emeritus of Iquitos, Carlos Manuel Escribano Subías , Bishop of Teruel y Albarracín , and Mario Iceta Gavicagogeascoa , Bishop of Bilbao . The inauguration took place on May 22nd of the same year.

From August 8, 2011 to February 1, 2015, he was also Apostolic Administrator of San José del Amazonas .
