Life

Mike Litt is a US citizen but has lived in Germany since he was a child. He grew up first in the district Wulfen- Barkenberg in Dorsten with his aunt and grandmother on after his mother had left him there after a visit to Germany. He never got to know his father. At the age of ten he moved to a boarding school of the Benedictines for six years . He then finished his school days at St. Ursula Dorsten High School with the Abitur. At this time he also appeared as a singer in the Dorsten band The Dare . In addition to his work as an author and reporter for newspapers, he began to study "History" and "German Studies" at the Ruhr University in Bochum.

Mike Litt lived in Bochum for over two decades and has a special connection to the Langendreer district in particular. He now lives in Düsseldorf , is married and has twin sons.

In 1986 Litt started working as a reporter for the Dorstener Zeitung . He was also the editor-in-chief of Sub Line , a music magazine from Gelsenkirchen-Buer , as well as at "Rock Times" under Uwe Deese .

Litt has been active as a radio presenter, author, reporter and DJ on the WDR radio station 1 Live since 1995. There he moderated and played various shows as a DJ. In the program Rock Chill Out he interpreted lounge music with a focus on guitar sounds. In addition to resident DJ Piet Blank , Litt played live party service as a DJ in the legendary Show 1 and did a "warm up" with house there before Blank put on uplifting trance . In the first season of the show 1Live Elfer , Litt was on the air as a presenter after the Bundesliga matchdays on Mondays from 11pm to midnight with Christoph Biermann . Biermann and Litt looked back together at the football highlights of the weekend, interviewed celebrities from the football scene and answered questions from listeners from the 1 LIVE circle of friends .

Until April 2015 on Fridays, then on Sundays, 1 Live broadcast the show Klubbing , which Litt presented as a presenter (2000–2015) together with DJ Larse . Formerly at 11 p.m., then at 9 p.m., a one-hour live author reading took place in front of an audience in the 1LIVE hall , at which Litt interviewed young German authors and writers and invited them to read aloud. In 2013 and 2014, Sabine Heinrich , Bianca Hauda and Tina Middendorf represented Litt on the show when Litt had to take a break for several months. On Sunday 16. July 2017, Mike Litt hosted the last club show and was then replaced by Mona Ameziane.

In 1997 1 Live was looking for a presenter for the radio show on Christmas Eve . Litt and his girlfriend at the time had just separated, and his family situation was tense. So he took over the moderation at Christmas 1997, thus received his first radio show and since then has moderated the radio show The lonely DJ in the world on 1 Live every year - except in 2013 - on Christmas Eve . He traditionally plays Sinéad O'Connor's version of the Christmas carol Silent Night, Holy Night at midnight .

From January 2010 on, he mixed and moderated the music show Lärm by Litt on Saturday evening for the German radio broadcaster DRadio Wissen , until the station was relaunched in 2014. Since January 2015, Mike Litt has been presenting current trends, news and Dj sets from the electronic music scene on the same Broadcasting slot in the Show Club der Republik . The station has been called Deutschlandfunk Nova since 2017.

As a DJ, Litt played at Mayday as well as in discos , clubs and festivals across Europe and around the world . At public viewing events during the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Litt played in front of several hundred thousand people, but especially in front of British soccer fans. Mike Litt has released various music tracks (with his long-term production partner Mario Landsberger) and DJ mix CDs for music labels such as Ministry of Sound , Kontor , Circle Records and Daredo .

For years, Litt was the director of the “Electric Lounge” for the annual Bochumer Musiksommer cultural festival , and now he traditionally performs there before the artist ATB .

In 2012 Litt published an autobiographical novel entitled The Lonely DJ in the World . Another autobiographical novel was announced for 2019.
