Michael Anthony Rosati (born January 7, 1968 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Italo - Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper .
Career
As a junior he played in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League with the Hamilton Steelhawks and was selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 1988 by the New York Rangers in 131st position, where he never played. In the summer of 1990 he moved to HC Bozen in South Tyrol . There he made a significant contribution to winning the national championship titles in 1995 and 1996.
When the Italian A1 series was in crisis in the mid-nineties, Mike Rosati moved to Adler Mannheim in the German Ice Hockey League , with which he was German champion in the 1996/97 and 1997/98 seasons . In 1997 he was the best goalkeeper of the regular season in the DEL with an average of 2.35 goals / game . After the second season, a scout from the Washington Capitals noticed him and he moved to the USA as the team's third goalie. When the second goalkeeper was injured and later the first goalkeeper, Olaf Koelzig , was eliminated during the game against the Ottawa Senators on November 7, 1998, he made his debut in the NHL. In the 28 minutes played, he did not concede a goal. However, he could never really assert himself in the team of the Capitals and played predominantly in the farm team of the Capitals, the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League .
In the summer of 1999 he moved back to Mannheim. At the end of the 2000/01 season he again won the German championship title with the Eagles. From the 2003/04 season he still played in the second German division with the Heilbronner Falken . In the 2004/05 season he worked as a coach assistant under Stéphane Richer in turn for the Adler Mannheim team.
