The Millennium Tower office tower at Handelskai 94-96 in the 20th Vienna district of Brigittenau was with a height of 171 m (building structure) and a total height of 202 m (including roof structure ) until the completion of DC Tower 1, the tallest office building in Austria . On 50 floors it has a gross floor area of 47,200 m², of which 38,500 m² is used as office space. The remaining area is generally accessible up to the 2nd floor and is used, among other things, for a shopping center, restaurants and a multiplex cinema ( UCI ). The Millennium Tower was built from 1997 to 1999.
architecture
The shape of the tower is formed by two fully glazed cylinders , which are interlocked and supported by a steel composite structure. The Millennium Tower was designed by the architects Gustav Peichl , Boris Podrecca and Rudolf F. Weber. The construction company was the ARGE Habau - Voestalpine - MCE .
Tenant
In the Millennium Tower, offices are rented to around 120 companies from various industries, including international companies such as Xerox , which operate from here in Eastern Europe. Other tenants are Cirquent , Trivadis , Bacardi - Martini , Clerical Medical , ENI , Walter Pürk GmbH, Elektro-Kagerer, who look after their customers in Eastern Austria from this location, or Cisco .
owner
On July 25, 2003, the client Georg Stumpf sold the Millennium Tower and the associated Millennium City to the Hamburg issuing house MPC Capital . The purchase price was 360 million euros, which is almost 15 times the annual income of 24.5 million euros (2002) of the Millennium City, which, in addition to the offices in the tower, consists of a shopping center, residential buildings and the largest cinema center in Austria. Taking into account the costs of 145 million euros, the result was a profit of 215 million euros. In 2017 Art-Invest Real Estate acquired the office property and invested in Austria for the first time.
MCN
In the course of construction, an internal telecommunications infrastructure was also set up, with which MCN Millennium Communication Network AG acted as a telephone and Internet provider. By sharing the lines of Telekom Austria , it was also able to operate as an Austria-wide provider. However, as MCN ran into financial difficulties in 2000, the existing network was taken over by Inode in 2002 .
