Milton Keynes Bowl
The Milton Keynes Bowl (officially the National Bowl since 1992 ) is an open-air stage that was built on the model of an amphitheater . It is located in the south of the city of Milton Keynes in England near the A5 ( London - Holyhead ) and has a capacity of 65,000 spectators.
history
The arena was laid out in a former clay pit , with excavation from the numerous new buildings in the area, and opened in 1979. The auditorium is planted with lawn and has no seats. In 1992 it was taken over by the Japanese company Sony , which introduced the brand name National Bowl . Sony also equipped the arena with a built-in sound system. For lack of profit potential, Sony sold the arena in 1996. In 2000 it was bought by the state urban renewal agency English Partnerships , which in turn became part of the Homes and Communities Agency in 2008. The site is currently in the hands of a consortium made up of Gaming International and Live Nation UK . The owners have been planning extensive renovations and new buildings since 2006, but their implementation had not yet begun.
Artist
The bowl was used for concerts by numerous artists, mainly well-known rock bands:
