Ming-Na Wen (born November 20, 1963 in Coloane , Macau ) is an American actress of Chinese origin.

Life and accomplishments

After separating from her husband, Ming-Na Wen's mother moved to Hong Kong . At the age of four she came to the United States , where she initially lived in New York City . At the age of nine, Wen moved to nearby Pittsburgh , where she attended high school. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with an acting degree .

Wen made her debut in the television series Young and Passionate - As Life Goes on , in which she appeared from 1988 to 1991. 1992 followed an appearance in the film Silent Rain with Jeff Daniels and Linda Hunt in other supporting roles. In 1994 she played a bigger role in the action film Street Fighter alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raúl Juliá . In 1997 she was seen in One Night Stand as Mimi , the betrayed wife of Max Carlyle ( Wesley Snipes ).

In the television series Emergency Room - Die Notaufnahme Wen first played as a guest in some episodes of the first season (1994-1995) and then permanently from 2000 to 2004. For this role, she was nominated for the 2001 Screen Actors Guild Awards together with the cast . She also appeared in the television series A Single Always Comes Alone and Inconceivable (2005) and gave her voice to cartoons such as The Batman (2004-2005). In 2009 she took on a permanent supporting role in the series Stargate Universe .

Since 2013 she was part of the main cast of the series Marvel's Agents of SHIELD . The series ended in 2020.

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.

Ming-Na Wen has been married to actor Eric Michael Zee since 1995 and has two children.
