Guardians of the Galaxy is an American animated series that is loosely based on the comics of the same name published by Marvel and continues the story of the film of the same name by James Gunn without being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe .

The Guardians of the Galaxy, consisting of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Racoon and Groot, have to find the cosmic seeds with the help of the crypto cube. The seed is a powerful weapon that can be used to create a new universe and it must not fall into the wrong hands. Galactic villains like Thanos, Korath, Nebula, Ronan or the Ravager would use it to terrify the universe. Therefore, the Guardians of the Galaxy must find and destroy the cosmic seeds in time.
Production and publication
After the premiere of The Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers - Unconquerable Together! Should another Marvel cartoon series go into production based on the Guardians of the Galaxy , the appearances of the team in the two previous series acted as test runs. In July 2014, the series was finally announced at the San Diego Comic-Con with a short teaser trailer and should be broadcast on American television in 2015 at the latest. In August 2015 it was announced that the series, like the film of the same name, would use songs from the 1970s. In October 2015, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Mix Volume 1 , which contains all of the pop songs used in the series, was released.
The series was extended in October 2015 by a second season, which will be broadcast from March 2017.

Micro series
The micro-series consists of 5 short episodes with a running time of 4 minutes, which tell the origins of the Guardians of the Galaxy before the events of the movie . While the individual episodes of the micro-series were broadcast on television in America, they were only published in Germany on DisneyXD's YouTube channel and were also divided into 2 individual episodes with a duration of 2 minutes.
