action
Gracie Hart is famous three weeks after the events of the first film, but this also has a negative effect on her work as an agent: If she is covertly employed in a bank, she is recognized and thus poses a risk to herself and her colleagues. The FBI , which is currently suffering from a bad image, wants to use Hart's notoriety and popularity in another area: She is to become the face of the authority at TV appearances and press conferences. The African American Sam Fuller, with whom a colleague no longer wants to work because of her aggressive behavior, is tasked with Hart's personal protection. Hart and Fuller hate each other, but have to work together from now on.
Meanwhile, Miss United States Cheryl Frasier and presenter Stan Fields are kidnapped in Las Vegas . The kidnappers are demanding a $ 5 million ransom from the organizers of the pageants. Hart is sent to Las Vegas with her unloved bodyguard Fuller, where Hart is supposed to give press conferences to inform about the progress of the investigation. Hart does not just want to wait and sit at press conferences, but also begins to investigate the kidnapping case, since the kidnapped Cheryl is also her friend. She finds out that Cheryl was not the target of the kidnappers, but just happened to get into the planned kidnapping of Stan Fields. Fields also has gambling debts, which leads Hart on the trail of a loan shark .
The unauthorized investigation upset the local FBI chief Walter Collins. After asking Hart to stay out of his investigation, she continues anyway, so he wants to send both agents back to New York. However, they do not follow the instructions and stay in town.
You learn that the kidnappers used to work in a show as pirates on a replica pirate ship in front of the Treasure Island Hotel . Hart and Fuller find the bound abductees in the lower part of the ship, which is being flooded, and free them at the last minute before drowning. When Hart himself is trapped in the sinking ship, her colleague Fuller is able to free her.
The local FBI chief holds a press conference on site and celebrates the liberation as his success, whereupon Hart jostles him accidentally and pushes him into the water in front of the assembled press. Hart and Fuller have come to appreciate each other through their experiences and from now on work together as partners.
Reviews
"Continuation of the hit comedy" Miss Undercover "(2000), in which the change from a criminalistic romance to a feminine buddy movie takes place. Tailored to its main actress Sandra Bullock and her image, the sometimes quite sophisticated film is able to entertain well over long stretches. "
“Sandra Bullock probably wanted to repeat the success of the predecessor with this infusion and produced this successor herself. But this new edition has an even poorer story and only impresses with its lack of imagination and its shrill style. "
Mike Clark wrote in USA Today that the film was "sporadically amusing". The character of a gay seems to be "borrowed from 500 other comedies".
Kevin Thomas wrote in the Los Angeles Times on March 24, 2005 that the script was "dreadful". You could like Sandra Bullock in every film, but that's not enough to save the film.
