Mognard is a commune Déléguée with 432 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the town of Entrelacs in the department of Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Chambéry and the canton of Aix-les-Bains-1 . The local residents of Mognard are called Mognardain (e) s in French .
With effect from January 1, 2016, the former municipalities of Albens , Cessens , Épersy , Mognard , Saint-Germain-la-Chambotte and Saint-Girod were merged into a commune nouvelle with the name Entrelacs.
geography
Mognard is located at 460 m , about 20 km north of the city of Chambéry and 52 km south-southwest of the city of Geneva (as the crow flies). The farming village extends in the foothills of the Alps to the west of the Bauges massif , in southern Albanais , on the edge of a plateau of the valley that connects the Rumilly basin with the Lac du Bourget .
In addition to the actual town center, Mognard also included several hamlet settlements and farms, including:
- Maclin ( 360 m ) on the southern slope of the Deisse
- Combe lingerie ( 420 m ) on the eastern slope of the Deisse
- Combe-Dessus ( 480 m ) on the eastern slope of the Deisse valley
Neighboring towns of Mognard are Albens and Saint-Girod in the north, Saint-Ours in the east, Épersy in the south and Grésy-sur-Aix and La Biolle in the west.
history
Mognard was first mentioned in a document in the 15th century. In the course of time the place name changed from Mugnard to Mugniard and Mogniard to Mognard. At the time of the Ancien Régime there was a small rule in Mognard, which was subordinate to the Counts of Savoy .
Attractions
The village church of Saint-Pierre was built in 1885.

After the population declined in the 20th century, there has been a significant increase in population since the mid-1970s thanks to the beautiful residential area.
Economy and Infrastructure
Mognard was a predominantly agricultural village well into the 20th century . In addition, there are now various local small businesses. In the meantime the village has also developed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area and in the Chambéry and Annecy area .
The village is located away from the larger thoroughfares. Local road links exist with Grésy-sur-Aix, La Biolle, Saint-Girod and Épersy. The nearest connection to the A41 motorway , which crosses the municipality, is around 6 km away.
