Mörla is a district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

The district of Mörla lies in the bottom of a valley between the forest Hain and the wooded Pörzberg northwest of the city center. This valley location south of the slopes is also climatically favorable.

history

Mörla was first mentioned in a document on April 28, 1417. From the 16th century, Mörla spring water flowed to Heidecksburg Castle . Therefore the fountain festival today. The village has always had a connection with the city. The children went and go to school in town. From 1868 the people of Mörla were able to bury their deceased in the village, because before that there was no own cemetery.

Mörla originally belonged as an exclave to the dominion of Oberkranichfeld , which at different times was under the sovereignty of various principalities. In 1825 Mörla came to rule of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt through an exchange of territory . In 1918 the place came to the Free State of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and in 1920 finally to the State of Thuringia.

Agriculture used to be a source of income. Today you go or drive to work in the city. On July 1, 1950, it was incorporated into Rudolstadt.
