Mujaahid Maynard

Mujaahid Maynard (born April 9, 1971 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is a retired American wrestler . He was winner of the 1995 Pan American Games in the Greco-Roman style paper weight.

Career

Mujaahid Maynard began wrestling as a teenager at Manual High School in Denver , Colorado . In 1989 he joined the Navy and was stationed in Pensacola , Florida until 1993 . He then went to Colorado Springs and studied economics at the University of Colorado Springs. He continued wrestling with both the Navy and the university, becoming a US Army Master in 1993 and a US University Master in the Greco-Roman style in 1993 and 1994 in paper weight, the lightest weight class, which then had a weight limit of 48 kg Had body weight. At the US championships he came 4th in 1993 and 1994, 2nd in 1995 and in 1996 he won this championship. In his wrestling career he belonged to the wrestling clubs California Jets and Sunkist Kids .

In 1993, Mujaahid Maynard began his international career with a 6th place in flyweight at the Pan American Championships. In 1994 he was used at the World Championships in Tampere in paper weight and came there on 10th place.

In 1995 he achieved his greatest international success. He was the winner of the Pan American Paperweight Games in Mar del Plata . He relegated Enrique Aguilar Zermeno from Brazil and the two-time world champion Wilber Sánchez from Cuba to the places. He also did well at the World Championships this year in Prague , where he came in 5th.

In 1996 Mujaahid Maynard won the US Olympic elimination and represented his country at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in paper weight. In Atlanta he lost his first fight against Wilber Sánchez clearly on points (3:12 technical points), then won over Jose Ochoa from Venezuela on points (4: 2 technical points) and was eliminated after another defeat in his third fight Zafar Gulijew from Russia (0: 6 technical points). He finished 13th.

Then he ended his international wrestling career. He returned to the Navy after completing his studies and made a comeback in 1999. In 1999 he finished 4th at the USA flyweight championship and in 2000 3rd place in bantamweight. He took part in the US again in 2000. Olympic elimination part, but could no longer qualify for the Olympic Games in Sydney .
