Cañadas de Obregón is a municipality in the Mexican state of Jalisco in the Altos Sur region . The municipality had 4,152 inhabitants at the 2010 census; the area of ​​the municipality is 272.6 km².

The only place in the municipality with at least 500 inhabitants and an administrative seat is the Cañadas de Obregón of the same name . The municipality comprises a total of 45 localities.

The Municipio Cañadas de Obregón borders the Municipios Mexticacán , Teocaltiche , Jalostotitlán , Valle de Guadalupe and Yahualica de González Gallo .

The municipal area is largely on one level at an average of around 1850  m above sea level. Almost half of the community area is forested, around 30% is agricultural land, another 11% is pasture.
