Huejuquilla el Alto is a municipality in the Mexican state of Jalisco in the Región Norte . The municipality had 8,781 inhabitants at the 2010 census; the area of ​​the municipality is 771.5 km².

The largest place in the municipality and administrative seat is the eponymous Huejuquilla el Alto , another place with at least 500 inhabitants exists with Tenzompa . The municipality comprises a total of 62 localities.

The Municipio Huejuquilla el Alto borders the Municipio Mezquitic and the State of Zacatecas .

The municipality has a very inconsistent orography with maximum elevations up to about 2200  m above sea level. More than half of the community area is forested.
