Zapotiltic is a municipality in the Mexican state of Jalisco in the Región Sur . The municipality had 29,192 inhabitants at the 2010 census; the area of the municipality is 253 km².
The largest place in the municipality and administrative seat is the Zapotiltic of the same name . A second place with at least 1000 inhabitants exists with El Rincón . The municipality comprises a total of 30 localities.
Located in the foothills of the Sierra Volcánica Transversal , the Municipio Zapotiltic borders the Municipios Zapotlán el Grande , Tamazula de Gordiano , Tecalitlán and Tuxpan .
The municipal area is on average about 1300 m above sea level. A good 40% of the community area is used for agriculture, another 40% is forested.
