The municipality of Cajuata is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Cajuata is one of six municipalities in the Inquisivi province and is located in the northern part of the province. It borders the Municipio Quime to the west, the Municipio Licoma Pampa to the south, the Municipio Inquisivi to the southeast and east , and the Province of Sud Yungas to the north .

The municipality has fifty localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Cajuata with 1,189 inhabitants in the southeastern part of the district, the second largest town is Circuata with 1,141 inhabitants. ( 2012 census )

geography

The municipality of Cajuata is located at an average altitude of 2000  m on the eastern slopes of the Cordillera Quimsa Cruz , between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands in the east. The region has a distinctive time-of-day climate in which temperatures are often subject to greater fluctuations during the day than during the year.

The mean average temperature in the valleys of the region is 19 ° C (see climate diagram Cajuata), with the monthly values ​​only slightly between a good 16 ° C in June / July and around 21 ° C from October to March. The annual precipitation is more than 900 mm and falls mainly in the wet season from November to March, the arid period with values ​​below 30 mm extends from May to August.
