action

Tim O'Hara works as the producer of the television news and he works with tech Lizzie. During one of the programs, the reporter Brace Channing, the daughter of his boss, is exposed, whereupon O'Hara is fired. O'Hara later witnesses the crash landing of a spaceship from Mars, which is occupied by an alien. The ship is getting smaller, O'Hara takes it. The alien follows O'Hara and gets to know him better; he is introduced by the producer to those around him as Uncle Martin .

SETI , headed by Elliot Coleye, discovers traces of the alien's DNA and is looking for him. O'Hara and Uncle Martin escape first, O'Hara is arrested a little later. The death of the alien is faked, whereupon O'Hara is released. He says goodbye to the alien who is returning to Mars.

At the end of the film, Uncle Martin travels back to earth. He lives with O'Hara and Lizzie.

Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on February 12, 1999 that the film was slapstick and could be entertaining for teenagers for just over 10 years. The film has some good moments; it seems that those involved were having fun.

Cinema magazine wrote that the plot and "gimmicks of the film" were "child-friendly". The “ingredients” - including “toned down” special effects and “cautious scenes of violence” - were brought together “into a functioning film” that “relies on comedy instead of tension”.

The lexicon of international films said that the film was a "largely entertaining comedy" which, however, did not achieve the "lovable charm of the original", although "the actors were in a playful mood".

backgrounds
