The Tresticklan National Park , established in 1996, is one of the larger national parks in southern Sweden with a total area of 28.97 square kilometers and is located in the municipality of Dals-Ed in northwestern Dalsland on the border with Norway . The name Tresticklan means trident and is certainly related to the shape of the Stora Tresticklan lake . Since January 2005 the national park has been classified as a Natura 2000 area under the name Trestickla-Boksjön .
vegetation
The wilderness landscape is characterized by a large number of small, nutrient-poor lakes that lie in the channels created by the ice age glacier movements . About 27.11 square kilometers are land with near-natural vegetation consisting of mostly light pine forest , here and there with interspersed moors and smaller spruce , aspen and birch occurrences . In 1830 a forest fire raged in what is now the national park. The pine is adapted accordingly and has a thicker bark, some trees are over 250 years old.
fauna
In the National Park that come capercaillie , the black grouse and hazel grouse and osprey quite common. The larger land animals include the elk and, more rarely, the lynx and wolf .
Access
The best way to get to the national park is via the road connecting Ed and Nössemark . The Råbocken car park is about 600 m from the eastern edge and is the starting point for hikes. It is about 3.5 km to the Norwegian border ( Bodalsviken ), and the Budalsvika Hut also offers overnight stays. The Tresticklaleden circular route is about 8 km long. At the southern junction Bråtane you can take a short detour to Orshöjden , which at 276 m is the largest elevation in the national park.
It is forbidden to light campfires, but picking berries and mushrooms for personal consumption is permitted.
