Horstwalde is a district of the town of Baruth / Mark in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg .
geography
Horstwalde, located on the northwest side of the Baruther glacial valley , is around 40 kilometers from the southern border of Berlin and around seven kilometers northwest of Baruth. Neighboring towns are Mückendorf , Paplitz , Schöbendorf , Lynow (part of the municipality of Nuthe-Urstromtal ) and Kummersdorf-Gut (part of the non-official municipality of Am Mellensee ). Horstwalde is located on Landesstrasse 70 between Trebbin and Baruth.

Horstwalde consists of the so-called main village , the trumpeter house , the Horstmühle and the forester's house Wunder .
history
The district of Horstwalde was founded by the Baruth rule in 1720 as a colony village with the name Steilberg . It was first mentioned in a document in 1768 with the name Busch-Neuhof . Since the 19th century the community Neuhof b. Baruth to the Jüterbog-Luckenwalde district . Neuhof b. Baruth was renamed Horstwalde on April 12, 1939 . The new name was derived from the field name Lange Horst and the wooded area.
About 1.5 km from Horstwalde there was an ironworks founded by Count F. G. Heinrich around 1750 , the so-called smelter . In 1858 an iron smelter was put into operation. A potash distillery was also operated here. At the end of the 18th century the operation of these plants was stopped due to unprofitability. Today no traces of the melt are visible anymore.
On December 31, 1997 Horstwalde was incorporated into the city of Baruth together with Groß Ziescht , Mückendorf and Radeland .
Traditions and sights
Horstwalde offers a special landscape feature of a dune complex with more than 15 nested parabolic dunes. This provides the location for a traffic test facility. At the regularly organized open day , everyone and a. test the incline and twist paths with your own vehicle.
Horstwalde is also a starting point for hikes in the Schöbendorfer Busch nature reserve .
