The place Neukirchen with about 800 inhabitants, the largest district of the market town Haunetal in osthessischen Hersfeld-Rotenburg . Due to its location between Hünfeld , Fulda and Bad Hersfeld , the village has developed into a popular residential area.

history

The first mention of the place can be found in a document from 1263 with the mention of an Eberhard von " Nuwenchirchin ", which is the first time that a church is present. The manor and landowner of the village with court at that time was the Fulda monastery . The name "Nuenkirchen" appeared as early as 1295 . Parish affiliation: Müsenbach (1382), Odensachsen (1727) and Meisenbach (1727) belonged to the parish . In 1489 the patronage of St. Vitus is mentioned. In 1464/65 it was assigned to the church administration of the Diocese of Würzburg , Archdiakonat Geisa-Mellrichstadt-Coburg, Landkapitel Geisa. In 1505 the patronage was incumbent on the Abbot of Fulda , Lords of Hauna, von Baumbach, and in the 17th and 18th centuries, the Lords of Tann . The Reformation was probably introduced around 1530. The first verifiable evangelical pastor was Johannes Mangel before 1582–1607. Change of Catholic confession: 1628. Reformed change of confession: 1631. 1812 Lutheran parish church. United parish since 1818 .

In the historic center of Neukirchen there is an almost complete inventory of half-timbered houses from the period from 1648 to 1900.

Restructuring

On February 1, 1971, as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the place that was then part of the Hünfeld district was incorporated into the newly formed community of Haunetal.
