Nick de Jong (born February 23, 1981 in Nijmegen ) is a Dutch ice hockey player and coach who played a large part of his career with the Nijmegen Devils in the Dutch honor division and won four of his six Dutch championship titles with the club.

Career

Nick de Jong began his career with the Nijmegen Devils , where he was initially on the ice for their second team in the second Dutch division. From 1998 to 2003 he was in the professional squad of the Eredivisie team and during this time won two championships (1999 and 2000) and once the Dutch cup competition (1999). After a year with the Amstel Tijgers Amsterdam , with whom he won the championship and cup double, he returned to Nijmegen, where he played until 2008 and was again Dutch champion in 2006. Even after a trip to the Heerenveen Flyers in 2008/09 , he returned to Nijmegen and won his fifth championship title there. From 2011 to 2015 he played successively for Eindhoven Kemphanen , HYS The Hague , where he won his sixth championship title in 2013, again for Heerenveen Flyers and again for Eindhoven Kemphanen in the honor division, before joining the Devils from his hometown again in 2015 which he played in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe Legue .

In the 2016/17 season he was assistant coach for the Tilburg Trappers in the German Oberliga-Nord .

International

For the Netherlands, de Jong took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championship in Europe Division II in 1999 , the U20 D World Championship in 2000 and the U20 World Championship in Division III in 2001 .

At senior level, he stood first in the B World Cup 2000 in the line-up of his country . After switching to the current division system, he played at the World Championships in Division I in 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 and 2015 . He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006 and in Sochi in 2014 .
