Life

Nigel Lamb was born in 1956 in the British colony of Rhodesia , now Zimbabwe , where he grew up on a farm. His father had served as a pilot in the Royal Air Force during World War II . At the age of eleven, Nigel tried to join the Rhodesian Air Force for the first time, which he finally succeeded at age 18. Two years later he was allowed to navigate jet planes and helicopters . In 1980 he left Zimbabwe as an instructor and turned to aerobatics in England. In more than 30 years he has participated in around 1770 air shows in over 30 countries. As the only pilot to date, he has won the British National Unlimited Aerobatic Championship eight times in a row, and has been crowned British Freestyle Champion four times.
In 2005 he competed in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship , where he has continuously improved over the years and celebrated his first race win in Putrajaya in 2014 . In the same year, after five second places in a row, he won the world title ahead of Hannes Arch . The Lamb team relied on a Breitling MXS-R as an aircraft. After the 2016 season, Lamb retired from the Red Bull Air Race.
His flying skills earned Lamb engagements in commercial productions and even some feature films. These include Dark Blue World , The Tribunal or Flyboys - Heroes of the Skies . Lamb currently lives in Oxfordshire .
