Mikaël Brageot (born July 31, 1987 in Villeneuve-sur-Lot , France ) is a French aerobatic pilot who is currently competing in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship .
Career
Beginnings
Brageot first sat in a cockpit when he was 12 when his grandfather took him to a local airfield for a flying lesson. If you jump nine years forward from that point in time, the year Brageot is called up for the French national team is a big deal for a 21-year-old.
Competitive aerobatics
Mikaël Brageot is one of the most exciting young pilots in France and flies with the strong support of Breitling. Smart, ambitious and born to fly - Brageot is the youngest French pilot ever to present his country on the international stage and is an aerobatic pilot in 2004.
Brageot is a calculating character who can always push his performance to the limit. He worked as a flight instructor in Villeneuve from 2008 to 2012, but flew on the side at international aerobatic competitions. In 2012 he finally became a full-time stunt pilot. Brageot won silver medals in the French Cup in 2003 and 2004. In 2006, he finished third in the French championships.
Brageot quickly climbed the ladder of success in aviation at national, European and international level. In 2014 he was selected for the Challenger Cup of the Red Bull Air Race and won this competition in his second season. In 2016 he was introduced to high-speed acrobatics at low altitude as the protégé of Nigel Lamb.
The Frenchman took over Nigel Lamb's aircraft with the 2017 season, which received a very bold military design with the pilot change. The optics are deceptive, however, because the "Skyracer", also the new name of the former Lamb machine, is state-of-the-art.
