Beginnings

Ben Murphy took an early interest in flying and, inspired by his grandfathers, who were both Royal Air Force pilots , joined the Air Cadets at school. He obtained his private pilot license before he could drive a car. While studying at Newcastle University, he joined the University Air Squadron, which gave him a taste of life in the Royal Air Force. In 1997 he joined the Royal Air Force and finished his training there in 2000. Murphy garnered countless prizes and awards during this time. In his Harrier GR7 , he completed more than 1000 hours of flight around the world and acted not only as a pilot but also as an instructor.

As a pilot, he was a member of the Red Arrows in 2006 and promptly also became the commanding officer and team leader - the second youngest in history. Ben Murphy was responsible for more than 100 employees and also led the nine red jets in the air worldwide.
