Venues of the Red Bull Air Race 2019

The Red Bull Air Race 2019 World Championship is the 14th season of a series of air races organized by Red Bull Air Race GmbH . There will be four races in the 2019 racing season. The stations are Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), Kazan (Russia), Balaton (Hungary) and Chiba (Japan).

The end of the Red Bull Air Race series

On May 29, 2019, Red Bull announced that the Red Bull Air Race World Championship would not continue after the 2019 season. The reason given was that "unlike many other Red Bull events around the world, the Air Race failed to properly arouse public interest". In the 2019 season, instead of the eight originally planned races, only four will be held. These include Abu Dhabi, Kazan, Balaton and Chiba. The races in Indianapolis and Saudi Arabia have been canceled. Until May 2019, venues were still being sought for two more races.

Rule changes

Challenger Class

In previous seasons, after the penultimate race, only the Challenger Class pilots with the highest points to date were invited to the season finale. This year the final stop is a race like any other. Six pilots from the field of twelve start each race, and all pilots have to contest five races during the season. The pilot with the highest number of points at the end of the season will ultimately receive the title Challenger Cup Champion.
