The Red Bull Air Race 2009 World Championship was the 7th season of a series of air races organized by Red Bull Air Race GmbH . The season opener took place on April 18th with the race in Abu Dhabi ( United Arab Emirates ). The winner of the race was Hannes Arch ( Austria ). Nicolas Ivanoff ( France ) won the race in San Diego ( USA ) on May 10th . The third race on June 14th in Windsor-Ontario ( Canada ) was won by Paul Bonhomme. The fourth race in Budapest ( Hungary ) was won by Michael Goulian ( United States ). The fifth (September 13th in Porto , Portugal ) and the sixth and final race of the 2009 season (October 4th in Barcelona , Spain ) was won again by Paul Bonhomme, who also became the overall winner.
