Vito Wyprächtiger (born July 23, 1981 in Laufen ) is a Swiss aerobatic pilot . In 2013, Vito Wyprächtiger was the first European to win the Reno Air Race in the Formula One category.

Life

As a child, Wyprächtiger wanted to be a pilot . He started flying gliders at the age of 15 and obtained his motorized flying license at the age of 18 . After attending an air show at Schupfart airfield , he decided on a future as an aerobatic pilot.

Just three years later, the trained aircraft mechanic came second in the Intermediate Swiss Championship. Since then he has participated in numerous air shows and air races. Wyprächtiger was the first Swiss to qualify for the renowned Reno Air Race in 2010 and already finished second when he participated for the first time. In 2013 he had his greatest success to date in Reno. He took first place in Formula One with the Swiss Air Racing Team. It was the first victory of a foreign team.

Wyprächtiger flies a Cassutt III-M "Scarlet Screamer" at races and shows. As an air show pilot, he comments on his flights for the audience live from the cockpit .
