Nikita Wiktorowitsch Filippow ( Kazakh: Никита Викторович Филиппов , English transcription Nikita Filippov; born July 10, 1991 in Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR , USSR ) is a Kazakh pole vaulter .

Athletic career

Nikita Filippow gained his first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships 2008 in Jakarta , where he won the bronze medal with 4.80 m. Two years later he won the silver medal behind Iranian Mohsen Rabbani at the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran with 5.10 m . He also won gold at the Junior Asian Championships in Hanoi and was eleventh at the Junior World Championships in Moncton with 4.85 m. In 2011 he was fourth at the Asian Championships in Kobe with 5.40 m . In 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games in London for the first time and was eliminated there with 5.35 m in qualification . At the summer Universiade in Kazan the following year , he won bronze with 5.5 m and also qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where he was eliminated with 5.40 m in qualification. At the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , he finished fifth with a jump of 5.25 m.

At the 2015 Asian Championships in Wuhan he finished eighth with 5.40 m and then won the Student World Games in Gwangju with 5.5 m. He qualified again for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 5.40 m in the qualification . Two years later he was fifth at the Summer Universiade in Taipei with 5.30 m. The following year he won the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran with 5.20 m. At the end of August he took part again in the Asian Games in Jakarta and was eighth with a jump of 5.30 m.

From 2010 to 2012 as well as 2015 and 2018 he was Filippov Kazakh champion in indoor pole vault and in 2012 and 2014 or 2015 and 2017 outdoors.
