Nikolai Petrovich Rychkov

Nikolai Petrowitsch Rytschkow ( Russian: Николай Петрович Рычков ; born October 15, 1746 in Orenburg , † 1784 ibid) was a Russian explorer and geographer .

Life

Rytschkow was the second son of the historian Pyotr Ivanovich Rytschkow . He completed his training in the army by serving in various infantry regiments and was discharged from military service as a captain in 1767 and sent to the academy expeditions.

1768 Rytschkow took part in Ivan Ivanovich Lepjochin's expedition to Orenburg . In 1769 and 1770 he explored the governorates of Kazan , Orenburg , Ufa , Vyatka and Perm on behalf of Peter Simon Pallas . In the spring of 1769 he examined the forest steppe and steppe on the Kama . In June 1969 he observed the transit of Venus in front of the sun . Then he followed the Ik , the Great Kinel , the Djoma and the Belaya . In 1770 he explored in the Vyatka opens Cheptsa River . He then spent the winter in Chelyabinsk . His reports were published by the Academy in two parts, while the topography of his father's Orenburg governorate appeared later.

In the summer of 1771, Rytschkow was assigned to a military caravan. He was now exploring the steppe on the Ishim in the Kazak Khanate . Then he went to the steppe east of the Mugodschar Mountains . In 1772 he became chief director of the new silk factories on the Akhtuba . In 1780 he was appointed Hofrat (7th class ). The Kollegienrat followed in 1784 (6th class).
