Nils Röseler (born February 10, 1992 in Bad Bentheim ) is a German soccer player . He is under contract with VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands and is moving to SV Sandhausen for the 2020/21 season . In addition, he is a former young German national player.

Career

In the club

Röseler started playing football at SV Bad Bentheim from his hometown. There he was discovered by the scouts of the Dutch first division club FC Twente Enschede , who brought him to their youth academy in 2003. After seven years Röseler rose to the second team. After a year he found himself on the professional team and was in the squad for qualifying for the UEFA Champions League . Twente, however, failed in the play-offs at the Portuguese first division side Benfica Lisbon and played in the UEFA Europa League . He made his competitive debut as a professional on December 14, 2011 in the Europa League group game against Wisła Krakau (1: 2) in the starting eleven. On March 21, 2012, the 20th matchday of the 2011/12 season , he also made his debut in the Eredivisie in the away game against De Graafschap Doetinchem (2-1). Overall, he came to ten league appearances in the 2011/12 season.

At the end of August 2012, Röseler was loaned to the league competitor VVV-Venlo for the 2012/13 season. Here he was used 26 times in the Eredivisie and twice in the relegation playoffs. After VVV's relegation, he returned to Enschede and was integrated into the squad of the second team Jong FC Twente , which, like the youth teams from Ajax Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven, was included in the Eerste Divisie , the second Dutch division, in the 2013/14 season were. In the first game of the season he scored the opening goal with a header in a 3-0 win over FC Oss . It was used 29 times in total.

For the 2014/15 season, Röseler returned to Germany and moved to Chemnitzer FC in the third division . On May 6, 2016, it was announced that his contract, which expired in summer 2016, had not been extended.

For the 2016/17 season , Röseler moved back to the Netherlands for VVV-Venlo. The defender was immediately a regular there, only missed three games of the season and was promoted to the Eredivisie as champions in spring 2017. The German was also a defender in the top Dutch league and had made 135 competitive appearances and three goals as deputy team captain by spring 2020. The 2019/20 season, which was terminated prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ended Röseler with Venlo in 13th place and subsequently did not extend his expiring contract.

In summer 2020 the defender will move to SV Sandhausen , where he signed a two-year contract.

National team

Röseler made his debut on December 14, 2009 in a 6-3 win against Hungary for the German U18 team . His last international match was on April 12, 2010, when he came on for Alexander Bieler in the 77th minute in the 1-0 win against Egypt . In total, he had eight international matches for the German U18s.
