No Colors Records

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No Colors Records is a mail order and independent label ( GmbH ) that specializes in Black Metal . The company has several right-wing extremist bands from the metal scene , especially the NSBM , under contract. The company's headquarters , warehouse and dispatch department are located in Podelwitz , a district of the town of Colditz , and a post office box in the nearby town of Mügeln . It is entered in the commercial register of Leipzig.

No Color Records' sub- and fantasy labels were Silencelike Death Productions and IG Farben Production .

background

The publishing program has its focus on Black Metal, but bands are also published and distributed that are assigned to other genres of Extreme Metal , such as Death and Thrash Metal . In addition to regular CD versions of the sound carriers, the majority of these also appear as limited vinyl versions . The label's range of merchandise also includes T-shirts and patches .

Graveland is and Nargaroth was a figurehead of the label. Many side projects of the Graveland founder Rob Darken, such as Lord Wind and Infernum , have also been published by No Colors. In addition to openly right-wing extremist bands like Nokturnal Mortum and Thor's Hammer (Poland), there are also non-political bands like Wigrid and Suicidal Winds on the label.

History of origin

Steffen Zopf founded the label in 1993 as a distributor and record company for black metal products. Their first own releases include Dimmu Borgir's first album For all tid and the first releases of the band Graveland, after the band and their previous label Lethal Records split up because of the band's openly right-wing extremist statements to Ablaze magazine . In 1996 the label released the debut of Falkenbach … En their medh riki fara… and the debut album of the right-wing extremist band Absurd , Facta Loquuntur . Their "openly neo-Nazi " EP Asgardsrei was also financed by Zopf and published on the fantasy label IG Farben Production, alluding to the IG Farben group , which was entangled with the Nazi regime . Capricornus' Split MC with Aryan Blood was to be released under the same label name.

On October 6, 1999, the label was searched as part of a large-scale raid, which also affected Christhunt Productions and the then label Darker Than Black Records of Absurd members Hendrik and Ronald Möbus .

Since 2003 No Colors has released the right-wing Finnish black metal band Satanic Warmaster ; With Nokturnal Mortum, another NSBM band was signed in 2005 .

In 2007, the label refused to release the new Forgotten Woods album Race of Cain because the song Third Eye (New Creature) featured several calls for victory and healing . Forgotten Woods guitarist Rune Vedaa wrote to Decibel Magazine that he had explained the lyrics to the label owner personally and in detail and had proposed several solutions, his lack of understanding of the artistic point of view and his childish behavior had left the band no choice but to give the label leave; in addition, his decision is strange in view of his other publications such as Graveland and Nokturnal Mortum. The band is avowedly social Darwinist , but the text was clearly directed against herd thinking, conformity and brainwashing, the calls for victory and healing were chosen as the best-known example of idiocy and mass psychosis . The label owner does not give interviews and therefore did not comment on the incident to Decibel Magazine . The label had already censored an EP of the Forgotten Woods / Joyless side project Raven in 1997 ; originally it was supposed to be called Fascist Machine , but the title was shortened to FM . Since the label had already released Absurd Facta Loquuntur , among other things , this decision was perceived as ironic.

In September 2008, the label's publications were indexed for the first time with various Graveland albums by the Federal Testing Agency for Media Harmful to Young People , in February 2009 Absurd Facta Loquuntur and in January 2011 Gravelands Dawn of Iron Blades .

reception

Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann from Rock Hard described No Colors 2007 as one of the “well-known companies” that serve NSBM's clientele.

In the course of reporting on the racist riots in Mügeln on August 19, 2007 , the label came into the focus of the media. The TAZ reported that the label was "recommended to a well-known right-wing extremist Internet forum [...] as a national mail order company" . The Saxon Office for the Protection of the Constitution does not classify No Colors as such and denies any observation of the shipment.
