The Nordergrund is a buoy laying company of the Federal Republic of Germany.

history

The ship, commissioned by the Mechanical Engineering North Department in 2009, was built at the Fassmer shipyard in Berne / Motzen. It is the second of a total of three ships that were built by Fassmer for the waterways and shipping authorities in Bremerhaven , Tönning and Wilhelmshaven . The order volume was around 40 million euros. Around 15 million euros of this went to the Nordergrund , which is the most expensive of the three ships.

The keel of the ship was laid on October 6, 2011, the launch on August 14, 2012. The ship was christened on August 29, 2012 in Berne . Godmother was Heike Grantz, wife of the Mayor of Bremerhaven , Melf Grantz . The ship, which was completed on November 1, 2012, was handed over to the Bremerhaven Waterways and Shipping Authority on November 2. It replaced the previous buoy layers, Bruno Illing, and Eversand , which was decommissioned in summer 2012, as well as the motorboat Imsum of the Waterways and Shipping Office in Bremerhaven.

The ship is named after the sea area of ​​the same name in the Weser estuary .

The main tasks of the ship include laying out, hauling in and checking sea ​​marks on the Outer and Lower Weser. The ship can also be used for fire fighting. For this purpose, there are two fire-fighting monitors that can be rotated by 300 degrees and have a throw of 115 meters on board. One of the extinguishing monitors is located above the observation deck , the other on a 10-meter extendable hydraulic mast in the rear area of ​​the deck structure . For use in a hazardous atmosphere, the superstructures on the deck can be sealed off from the outside air.

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by two high-speed twelve-cylinder - four stroke - diesel engines of the manufacturer MAN (type D2842 LE412), each with 588  kW power driven. The motors act via Schiffswende- / speed reduction gear in each case on a Voith-Schneider propeller (Type R16 R5EC / 120-1). The ship reaches a speed of 12  knots .

The ship has two MAN generators with 345 and 244 kW output ( apparent power 400  kVA and 285 kVA) for the power supply . A Deutz generator with an output of 77 kW (apparent power 76 kVA) is available as an emergency power generator . A separate MAN unit (type D2842 LE403) has been installed to operate the two fire extinguishing pumps.

In the bow of the ship there is a cross- jet control system with 300 kW power, which is designed as a water jet drive. The hull of the ship is reinforced with ice ( ice class "E").

A working crane with a lifting capacity of 12 t is located on the aft deck. The crane is equipped with a sea state follower. The telescopic arm has a reach of 17 m.

There are six chambers on board with a total of ten beds and a captain's cabin.
