The Bruno Illing is a former buoy laying ship for the Federal Republic of Germany.

history

The ship was built in 1968 under construction number 864 at the Norderwerft Johann Rathje Köser in Hamburg . The launching of the ship took place in May 1968th The completion took place in November of that year.

The ship was used by the Bremerhaven Waterways and Shipping Authority on the Lower and Outer Weser . Used range of the ship the laying and control of floating belonged navaids of any kind as well as the control and supply of fixed navaids such as lighthouses and light beacons . In addition, the ship was used for shipping police tasks. It could also be used to combat oil spills, as a support vehicle in the event of an accident and as an icebreaker.

The ship was decommissioned at the WSA Bremerhaven at the beginning of November 2012 and replaced by the new Nordergrund building. At the end of November 2012, the Bruno Illing was reactivated as a temporary replacement for the Gustav Meyer for the WSA Emden and was finally decommissioned there in March 2013. From December 12, 2013, the Bruno Illing was up for sale at VEBEG and was sold on February 13, 2014 at a price of € 516,900.99.

The ship has been in use since 2014 under the name Krebs Helios by the Krebs group of companies active in corrosion protection.

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by two eight - cylinder four - stroke diesel engines from the manufacturer Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (type: SBA 8 M 528), each with an output of 552  kW . The two motors act on a controllable pitch propeller via gears . The ship thus reaches a speed of around 14 knots.

Two shaft generators with an apparent power of 425 kVA each  and two additional generators with an apparent power of 310 or 45 kVA are available for the power supply. There is a transverse thruster control system in the bow of the ship .

The ship has an open working deck in front of the aft deck structure . An on-board crane is available here for launching and retrieving floating sea marks.
