The 44th Melodi Grand Prix took place on February 4, 2006 at the Spektrum in Oslo and was the Norwegian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens ( Greece ). The shows were moderated by Synøve Svabø and Stian B. Simonsen .

format

Four preliminary rounds were held in advance. In each of the first three preliminary rounds, there were six participants, of whom the two interpreters qualified for the final, who were able to collect the most calls via televoting (in the tables in bold). In the fourth round, the second chance round or “siste sjanse”, the songs that were third and fourth in the first three preliminary rounds competed against each other again (in italics in the tables). Again, the two songs that received the most calls qualified for the finals.

In the final on February 4, 2006, the audience had the choice of choosing their participant for Athens from the eight finalists .

Oslo spectrum

The final took place on February 4, 2006 at the Oslo Spektrum in Oslo . A total of ten performers competed there, four of whom qualified for the gold final. Christine Guldbrandsen prevailed in the gold final with her song Alvedansen .
