Oberholzen is a village in the town of Wiehl in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Location and description

The place is about 1.5 km northeast of the city center of Wiehl as the crow flies. Oberholzen is located south of the federal motorway 4 .

Nearby is the large Alte Bremig forest area with many shady paths for hikers and joggers. At 338 m, the Wohlsberg is the second highest elevation in the municipality of Wiehl, while the Immerkopf near Brächen is higher at 364 m.

history

In 1575 the place is mentioned for the first time as Over Holthusen in the Arnold Mercator map. In the fodder sheet of the Homburg rule of 1580, one Wittgenstein and four Saynian subjects are counted as Zu Over Holtz taxable .
