The place was surrounded by iron mines like Bruchberg, Herkules, Kirchenfeld, Braunfels, Stollenberg in the middle of the 19th century . On November 26, 1898, part of the farmsteads sank into the mud through the dam breach at the clarification pond of the Alter Stollenberg mine .
