Merkausen in the Oberbergischer Kreis is one of 51 localities in the city of Wiehl in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Location and description

The place is between the places Alferzhagen in the west and Marienhagen in the south and is about 6 km northeast of the city center of Wiehl on the county road K 57 as the crow flies.Markausen is north of the federal highway 4 .

history

First mention

Under the name of Merrekusen, the place was mentioned for the first time in 1464 as "Homburger GrenzWEISum" . There are further mentions in the A. Mercator card from 1575 as Merickhausen and in the Homburg fodder oat labels from 1580 as Merigkaussenn.
