Börnhausen is one of 51 localities in the city of Wiehl in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Location and description

The place is on the L 95 state road and is around 3 km west of Wiehl town center. Börnhausen is located south of the federal motorway 4 .

history

The noble family von und zu Börnhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1395 as feudal people of Count von Sayn zu Homburg. The spelling of the first mention was Burnhusin . On the A. Mercator map from 1575 the name is Burrenhausen . Börnhausen Castle , built in the 13th or beginning of the 14th century, is now used as a residential building.

In the feed sheet of the Homburg rule of 1580, one Wittgenstein, three Saynic and four Bergische subjects are counted as subject to tax in Bornhaussen .

In the past, rich iron ore fields such as Gries Grube and Röttchen were exploited here .
