The Oberwürzbach-Hirschental nature reserve is located in the Saarpfalz district and the Saarbrücken regional association in Saarland .

location

The area extends northeast of the St. Ingbert district of Oberwürzbach over a length of around 2.8 km in a north-westerly direction to the St. Ingbert district of Sengscheid . It is bounded in the north by the state road L235 and in the south by the state road L108, which also forms the outer border of the Bliesgau biosphere there. The course of these two roads determines the shape of the nature reserve. At the southeast end it is about 900 m wide and tapers at the intersection of the state roads.

meaning

The 98  hectare area, a core zone in the Bliesgau biosphere reserve , was placed under nature protection in 2008 with the identification number NSG-127 . This core zone presents itself as a mixed stand of beech and oak from the Middle Ages on red sandstone with individual groups of old trees on a slope.
