Oliver Tarney

Oliver Tarney (born December 29, 1970 ) is a British sound engineer who has been involved in over 40 film and television productions since the beginning of his career in the late 1990s. He was recognized at the Academy Awards in 2014 and 2016 for his work on the action thriller Captain Phillips , which focuses on the pirate attack on Maersk Alabama , and the science fiction film The Martian - Rescues Mark Watney, each for an Oscar in the category of Best Sound Editing nominated.

These two films also earned him nominations for the British Academy Film Award in 2014 and 2016 ; In 2007 he was also nominated for another British Academy Film Award for the disaster drama Flight 93 . Tarney has received a Golden Reel Award from the Motion Picture Sound Editors for his work with Captain Phillips and has been nominated for nine other awards. Before his film career he worked as a musician.
