Olszynka (German large and small forest village ) is a district of Gdańsk ( Danzig ) in Poland , this covers an area of almost 8 km² and has 3209 inhabitants with a population density of over 400 inhabitants / km². In 1933 the area was administratively part of the city of Gdansk.
geography
The district is located in the southeast of the city, bordering the districts Rudniki , downtown , Orunia-Św. Wojciech Lipce and the rural community Pruszcz Gdanski ( Praust ).
In the south and west, Olszynka borders the Motława ( Motława ) in the north on the moats of the former fortifications. The area belongs entirely to the Vistula Delta , part of which is a geomorphological depression about one meter below sea level. The two places still have a rural character.

history
Until 1973 there was a narrow-gauge railway (750 mm) of the Gdańska Kolej Dojazdowa , which was originally operated by the West Prussian Kleinbahnen AG . Standard gauge freight wagons could be accommodated in Gdańsk Piaski ( Sandweg ) .
