Krakowiec-Górki Zachodnie (German Krakau and Westlich Neufähr , Kashubian Krakówc ë Zôpadné Górczi ) is a district of Gdańsk ( Danzig ) in Poland , this covers an area of 8.4 km² and has 1994 inhabitants with a population density of 238 inhabitants / km². In 1914, the area was administratively part of the city of Danzig.
geography
The district is located in the east of the city and occupies the eastern part of Wyspa Portowa ( port island ). The northern border is the Baltic Sea , the eastern border is the Wisłą Śmiałą ( Bold Vistula ) and the southern border is the Martwą Wisłą ( Dead Vistula ). The four-hectare Jezioro Bursztynowe ("Amber Lake") is located in the district .
Krakowiec-Górki Zachodnie borders directly on Stogi and separated by the Kühne and Dead Vistula on the Wyspa Sobieszewska districts on the island of the same name and Rudniki .

history
The Przerabka and the shore of today's island used to be an important storage area, where mainly the large rafts of wood were broken up. In Cracow and on Cracow Kämpe , an island that no longer exists, there were numerous sawmills and timber trading companies.
The eastern border of the district was established between 1840 after a flood in which the Vistula broke through the dunes of the Spit near Neufähr. Cracow had 536 inhabitants in 1910 and Westlich Neufähr 727 in 1905.

traffic
Both places are connected to the city bus service. The marina is approached by the Gdańsk “water tram” in the summer months.
