Stogi (German Heubude , Kashubian Bùdë ) is a district of Gdańsk ( Danzig ) in Poland , this covers an area of almost 11 km² and has 12128 inhabitants with a population density of 1106 inhabitants / km². In 1914, the area was administratively part of the city of Danzig.
geography
The district is located in the northeast of the city and occupies the middle third of Wyspa Portowa ( harbor island ). The northern border is the Baltic Sea , the southern border is Martwą Wisłą ( Dead Vistula ). Stogi beach is still very popular today, even though it was made smaller by the construction of the deep water harbor. The 7.5 hectare Pusty Staw ( Great Heidsee ) and the Jezioro Zajęcze ( Small Heidsee ) are located in the district.
Stogi borders directly on Przeróbka , Krakowiec-Górki Zachodnie and, separated by the Dead Vistula, on the Rudniki district . The former seaside resort is today characterized by high-rise buildings.
history
At the end of the 19th century, the hay barn was expanded into a seaside resort and could be reached from Gdansk by steamship. The place had 3114 inhabitants in 1910. Heubude received an upswing after the tram connection to the beach was established in 1927.
The Port Północny ( Danzig North Harbor ) has been built since 1970 and has recently been supplemented by the Deepwater Container Terminal (DCT) and logistics centers.
Administrative history
The rural community Heubude was incorporated into the city of Danzig in 1914. Stogi was a joint district with Przeróbka until 2010. The Stogi z Przeróbką district had an area of 17.03 km² and 18,614 inhabitants - 1093 per km².

traffic
The island is connected to the city's road and rail network by several bridges. In April 2016, was Tadeusz Gocłowskiego - Tunnel opened to traffic under the Dead Vistula. The town of Stogi has had a tram connection since 1927 and is served by the Gdańsk “water tram” in the summer months.
