Barbados participated in the XIX. Olympic Summer Games in Mexico City in 1968 for the first time as an independent country participated in the Olympic Games. Eight years earlier, Barbados had beenpart of the West Indian Federation team at the Rome Games . In the Mexican capital, the country was represented by a delegation of nine athletes. There were no female athletes present for the country.
